Professional Development Stage in Managing School Operations and Resources of Public School Heads in Ticao Island,Masbate Province: An Analysis

The study explored the professional development stage of public school heads in Ticao Island, Masbate Province along managing school operations and resources with the following end goals: 1) To know the profile of the public school heads in Ticao Island, Masbate Province; 2) Determine their professional development stage in managing school operations and resources; and 3) Identify factors that influenced their professional development stage. The study used questionnaire-checklist to gather relevant information with appropriate permission from SDO- Masbate Top Management. The analysis and interpretation used frequency and percentage for the profile of the public school heads as well as on their professional development stage in managing school operations and resources while scale and weighted mean were used for the factors that significantly influenced the professional development stage of the public school heads. The findings revealed that the public school heads in Ticao Island, Masbate had varied profile along gender, age, highest educational attainment, number of years as school head, training programs attended on managing school operations and resources, and performance rating. They had diverse professional development stage in terms of records management, financial management, managing school facilities and equipment, management of staff, managing school safety for disaster preparedness, mitigation and resiliency, and managing merging opportunities and challenges. Furthermore, different factors influenced the professional development stage of the public school heads in Ticao Island, Masbate in managing school operations and resources. The diversity of the public school heads in the different aspects of their administrative and supervisory functions led to the thorough understanding of the wide array of factors that affect their professional development stages and how these translate to behaviors that impact their inherent duties and functions. By understanding their needs along specific key result areas, interventions and working solutions could be made to improve their professional development stage and meaningfully advance job performance.
