Abstract

This study aimed to revitalize Ilocano folk songs for integration into Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE). A qualitative approach was employed to analyze five (5) Ilocano folk songs, drawing on the expertise of senior citizens and music professionals. Through inductive content analysis, the study identified key themes and developed a preservation program. Findings underscore the potential of Ilocano songs as powerful educational tools and cultural repositories. However, the research also highlighted the urgent need to address the decline of Ilocano song culture due to technological advancements. Recommendations include incorporating Ilocano songs into the curriculum, promoting community engagement, and utilizing technology to preserve and disseminate this valuable cultural heritage.
